BUILDING YOUR HAIR UNIT

CLOSURE VERSUS FRONTAL: WHICH IS BEST FOR YOU?
  • What is a Closure?
    • A closure covers a smaller portion of your hairline and typically sits at the top of the wig unit. It is a great option if you prefer a simple, low maintenance install. It is also our recommended option if you plan to wear your wig unit glueless.
    • Because a closure does not extend across the entire hairline, it offers a more limited styling area. However, it is a great choice for someone who wants a simple, effortless look without having to spend as much time maintaining their lace.
  • What is a Frontal?
    • A frontal covers your hairline from ear to ear. It is a great option if you prefer flexibility with styling. With a frontal, you can create various parting and hairstyle looks because the lace extends across the entire front of the wig unit.
    • A frontal gives you more freedom to switch up your look, but the additional coverage also means it will typically require more care and maintenance than a closure.

  • A Closure May Be Best For You If...
    • You are a low maintenance babe, you want a grab and go wig, you prefer a more consistent hairstyle, or you want something easy for everyday wear.
    • If you want a wig that is easy to put on and go, a closure is a great option. The smaller lace area means there is less lace to maintain, making it a practical choice for everyday wear.
    • Closures are particularly well suited to glueless units. If you do not want to spend time securing or styling your lace every time you wear your wig, a closure can give you a simpler experience.
    • If you already know the parting or hairstyle you like and do not want to switch it up frequently, you may not need the additional styling space that a frontal provides.
    • A closure can be a great choice for work, school, running errands or simply having a wig that you can reach for without a lot of preparation.
  • A Frontal May Be Best For You If...
    • You love switching up your hairstyles, you want more styling versatility, you enjoy experimenting with your look, you are comfortable with a little more maintenance.
    • A frontal gives you more freedom to change your parting and create different looks without being limited to the area covered by a closure.
    • Because a frontal extends from ear to ear, you have more lace to work with, allowing you to create looks such as middle parts, side parts, deeper side parts and other styles that expose more of the hairline
    • You will generally need to spend more time caring for and maintaining the lace to keep your unit looking its best.
  • What About Closure and Frontal Sizes?
    • The larger the closure or frontal size, the more coverage and styling space it provides.

If you are still unsure, we are always happy to help you choose. Send us a message on WhatsApp and tell us what kind of look you are going for, and we will do our best to help you decide which option best suits your needs.

HD LACE VERSUS TRANSPARENT LACE.
HD and transparent lace can both create a natural-looking finish, but they differ in their thickness, durability and overall appearance.
  • What is HD Lace?
    • HD lace is thinner and more delicate, which allows it to blend more seamlessly with your skin. It is a great option if you prefer a barely-there melt that blends in to create the appearance of hair growing directly from your scalp.
  • What is Transparent Lace?
    • Transparent lace is slightly thicker and more durable than HD lace. It is a great option for an everyday wig unit, as its durability allows it to withstand the wear and tear of regular use while maintaining a transparent finish that blends nicely with your skin.
  • HD Lace May Be Best For You If...
    • You want your lace to blend as seamlessly as possible, prefer a glueless wig unit, or are comfortable with more delicate lace.
    • HD lace is designed to be thinner and more delicate, allowing it to melt into the skin and create a very natural-looking hairline.
    • If you plan to wear your wig unit glueless, HD lace can be a great option if you want a more seamless appearance around the hairline. The thinner lace can help create that scalp-like finish without requiring as much effort to make the lace look natural.
    • Because HD lace is thinner, it is also more fragile. It requires more care when installing, removing, brushing and handling your wig unit.
  • Transparent Lace May Be Best For You If...
    • You want an everyday unit, prioritize durability, want a low maintenance option, or plan to wear it frequently.
    • Transparent lace is a great choice if you plan to wear your wig regularly and want a balance between a natural-looking finish and durability.
    • Its slightly thicker construction makes transparent lace more resistant to the everyday wear and tear that comes with installing, removing and wearing your wig unit.
  • Why is Our HD Lace Only Available for Certain Colours?
    • Because HD lace is thinner and more delicate than transparent lace, it requires additional care when working with certain hair colours. Some darker or more heavily pigmented colours require additional processing, and we want to ensure that the delicate HD lace maintains its quality, appearance and integrity throughout the construction of your wig unit.
    • Rather than offering HD lace across every colour option, we have carefully selected the colours that are best suited to our HD lace to ensure that you receive a high-quality finished unit.
    • If HD lace is not available for your selected colour, transparent lace is available as an alternative and still provides a natural-looking finish with greater durability.

SINGLE DRAWN VERSUS DOUBLE DRAWN
Single drawn versus double drawn considers how full you would like your hair to look from root to tip. Single drawn and double drawn hair offer two different finishes, allowing you to choose based on your preferred level of fullness and the look you want to achieve.
  • What is Single Drawn?
    • Single drawn hair has a fuller appearance at the roots with a gradually lighter appearance towards the ends. It is a great option if you prefer a natural finish.
  • What is Double Drawn?
    • Double drawn hair has a fuller appearance at the roots all the way down to the ends. It has a uniform appearance, with consistent thickness from root to tip. It is a great option if you prefer a fuller look that is consistent throughout the length of the unit.
    • For straight and wavy textures from 24 to 30 inches, we highly recommend upgrading to double drawn to maintain a fuller appearance throughout the length of the unit.
  • Single Drawn May Be Best For You If...
    • You like the look of naturally tapered ends, or want a great option for shorter lengths.
    • If you prefer your hair to have a softer, more natural-looking finish, single drawn hair may be the better option for you.
  • Double Drawn May Be Best For You If...
    • You want fuller ends, are purchasing longer lengths, or want a more uniform look.
    • Double drawn hair maintains a more consistent thickness from the roots all the way to the ends. Your ends will look just as full as the rest of your hair, giving your unit a noticeably fuller appearance.
    • The longer the hair, the more noticeable the gradual tapering of single drawn hair can become. Double drawn helps maintain fullness throughout longer lengths.
  • Why Do We Recommend Double Drawn for Longer Lengths?
    • As hair gets longer, the difference between the fullness at the roots and the ends of single drawn hair can become more noticeable. This is particularly true for straight and wavy textures.
    • This does not mean that single drawn is not suitable for longer lengths. If you prefer a more naturally tapered finish, you may still choose single drawn. The recommendation simply comes down to the look you want your unit to have.

HOW MANY BUNDLES DO YOU NEED?

    • 1 bundle is a good option for ponytails and adding length or volume to an existing style. It is not recommended for a full sew-in or wig unit.
    • 2 bundles are a good option for shorter lengths or styles where you want a lighter, more natural amount of hair.
    • 3 bundles are our recommended choice for most full installs. They are a good option for providing a fuller look while giving you enough hair to accommodate longer lengths.
    • 4 bundles are good for longer lengths, maximum fullness or if you prefer a very full and voluminous look.
  • What Else Should You Consider?
    • The longer the hair, the more bundles you may need to achieve the same level of fullness. For example, 2 bundles may provide plenty of hair for a shorter length, but you may prefer 3 or 4 bundles when purchasing a longer length to maintain a fuller appearance throughout the unit or install.
    • The number of bundles you need also depends on how you want your finished style to look. If you prefer a natural, lightweight look, fewer bundles may be suitable for you. If you prefer a full, voluminous look, you may want to add an additional bundle.
    • Different textures can also create different levels of volume and fullness. A curly or wavy texture may appear fuller than a straight texture at the same length and number of bundles.
    • Your ideal number of bundles will also depend on how you plan to use them. Ponytail: 1 bundle may be sufficient. Shorter sew-in: 2 bundles may be sufficient depending on your desired fullness. Full sew-in: We generally recommend 3 bundles.

UNDERSTANDING WIG DENSITY.

Wig density refers to how much hair is used to construct your wig unit. The higher the density, the more hair is used, resulting in a fuller wig. A unit with a lower density uses less hair, while a higher-density unit uses more hair to create additional fullness.

At Amoke Ade Hair, our wig units come standard at 210% density. This gives you a full, voluminous unit without being excessively heavy. However, if you prefer a lighter or fuller unit, send us a message on WhatsApp to place an order for a customized density option.
